Toxic and Dangerous Foods for Pets
Poison is a growing problem among pet owners. Many people indulge dogs by feeding them table scraps now and then.Household items are not the only thing that can harm your pets. Many common foods and drugs can also be toxic to your pets. The following are foods that can be toxic or poisonous to your pets:
Theobromine is a stimulant present in Chocolate that is poisonous to dogs.The amount of theobromine differs in the different types of chocolate.Theobromine mainly affects the heart, central nervous system and kidneys.
Avocados contain a toxin known as persin. Persin is found in various parts of the avocado and avocado trees . Diarrhea and vomiting are the most common symptoms. Birds and small pets seem most affected by the negative side effects of consuming avocado.
Caffeine is highly toxic to pets, having negative effects on both the cardiac and nervous systems. Side effects can include vomiting, diarrhea, abnormal heart rhythms, tremors, seizures, and possible death.
4. Apple Seeds
Amygdlin a natural chemical present in the casing of apple seeds are toxic to a dog because they releases cyanides when digested. This is really only an issue if a large amount was eaten and the seed were chewed up by the dog, causing it to enter its blood stream.
5. Macadamia Nuts
Macadamia nuts are commonly used in many cookies and candies. However, they can cause problems for your canine companion. These nuts have caused weakness, depression, vomiting, tremors and hyperthermia in pets.
Just because you love getting a little tipsy in a while doesnt mean its safe for your pet. Normally your pet has access to the spilled booze on the floor which results in some silly antics.Alcohol can cause not only intoxication, lack of coordination, poor breathing, and abnormal acidity, but potentially even coma and/or death.
